Recently there was a letter published in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette asking about the effort to restore passenger rail service to Fort Wayne from Chicago and on to Columbus, Ohio. In response to that letter I would like to inform all area passenger rail supporters that the Northeast Indiana Passenger Rail Association (NIPRA) is continuing to work on this project and I assure all of you that we are making progress. It is our expectation that the Tier I Enviromnental Impact Study as mandated by the Federal govermnent will be underway by this fall. There have been some delays in the proc ss beyond our control, but we do expect that there will be positive news to report on the Chicago to Fort Wayne and Ohio passenger rail service soon. So please keep the faith on restoration of passenger rail service to Fort Wayne at the Baker Street Station in downtown and the other conununities that hl\ve expressed support for this great transportation and economic development project.

Thank you.
